10 exciting new hotels coming to Europe in 2022

Palasa Beach Hotel, Albania

The new member of the Melia collection will be the Palasa Beach Hotel, which will open on the Albanian Riviera in 2022 (exact date and website to come). The new beachfront property is expected to have 142 rooms and suites, as well as five private villas.

Sommerro, Norway

The 231 rooms Sommerro is slated to open in the Norwegian capital of Oslo in September 2022 and will feature a stunning historic design (the building dates from the 1930s), as well as the city’s first rooftop pool and sauna. The new opening is part of the prestigious Preferred Hotels & Resorts collection.

Cape Lesante, Greece

With two existing properties in their portfolio, The Lesante Collection launch a third, Cape Lesante, also on the Ionian island of Zakynthos, in May 2022. Located by the seafront in the traditional village of Akrotiri, near the town of Zakynthos, the new five-star property will include 55 suites and 10 villas, as well as a wellness Center.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Scotland

One of the most anticipated openings of 2022, Townhouse in Gleneagles, an offshoot of the unparalleled country house Gleneagles, is expected to transform the Scottish city of Edinburgh. The new urban retreat will have 33 keys, an all-day restaurant, a members-only club (pictured) and a rooftop bar.

ON Residence Thessaloniki, Greece

Located in a historic waterfront building, New Thessaloniki ON Residence comes from one of the oldest hotel companies in Greece, TOR hotel group, which has been in operation since 1925, and Grivalia Hospitality. The chic new boutique hotel will have 60 keys; a revival of the iconic restaurant, Olympos Naoussa (photo); and a lot of timeless style inspired by the decor.

Raffles London at OWO, England

London’s historic Old War Office has welcomed everyone from Winston Churchill to Ian Fleming, but this year it is becoming a highly anticipated new hotel. At the end of 2022, the historic building will open to the public for the first time as Raffles London at the OWO with 120 rooms and suites, 85 unique residences and 11 restaurants and bars.

La Palma Hotel, Italy

In April 2022, the top of the range Oetker collection Hotel La Palma is planned to open, a reinvention of a famous Capri hotel, which dates back to 1822 and is the oldest hotel on the island. The new, whitewashed, sun-drenched hideaway will feature 50 well-appointed rooms and an F&B program run by celebrity chef Gennaro Esposito.

La Zambra, Spain

First opened in 1984, the legendary Byblos hotel on the Costa del Sol will be reborn next spring in Zambra, which is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Benefiting from a complete transformation treatment from the Mallorcan architecture studio Esteva and Esteva, La Zambra will be located near two 18-hole golf courses and will have 197 keys; 3 swimming pools; and a wellness center.

Lanserhof Sylt, Germany

Lanserhof Sylt is set to open this spring on Sylt, a chic island in northern Germany, near the Danish border, which Vogue calls “Martha’s Vineyard of Germany”. With more than 120 million euros invested, the new 55-room hotel will be a sanctuary of modernity, style and well-being, designed by world-renowned architect Christoph Ingenhoven with sustainable materials including thatch.

COMO Le Montrachet, France

Como hotels and resortsThe most recent addition is COMO Le Montrachet, which will open in the Côte-d’Or region of Burgundy in 2021. As the brand’s first foray into France, COMO Le Montrachet will feature 31 keys spread across four historic buildings. 18th century, plus a signature COMO Shambhala Retreat, by Italian design star Paola Navone, who is also responsible for COMO Point Yamu in Thailand in Phuket and COMO Castello Del Nero in Italy.
