Cops say Lawrence Taylor hasn’t revealed he’s been living in hotel for months
The cops say Laurent Taylor was arrested because he had been living in a hotel for months – but did not reveal this to law enforcement when he had to.
Everything is explained in new police documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, in which cops say the NFL legend made a huge no-no after failing to inform them that he left his permanently registered address in April.
According to the documents, officers say that due to his sex offender status resulting from a conviction in 2011, Taylor must be diligent whenever he moves and notify authorities of the change of address.
Cops, however, say an investigation found Taylor moved into a hotel in Florida on April 2 and was living there without properly informing them.
Police said that when questioning Taylor about the move … he told them, “He was living in the hotel … to avoid problems with his future ex-wife.”
Cops say Taylor told them he didn’t know he had to report the change of address – although officers claim in the documents they have documents showing Taylor should have known better.
According to the documents, the cops issued an arrest warrant against him for all of this … adding that Taylor “quickly surrendered” once he learned of the warrant.
Taylor has since been charged with two counts of failing to register as a sex offender.
LT pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this week … and his lawyer, Arthur aidala, tells us he’s confident the case will be closed.
