Hotel visits without the stay? Here’s why you should go.

Many of us will be spending time with our friends and loved ones in the next few days, and you might not want to go to the same crowded places you’re used to. There are three bars in Detroit that offer cocktails and mocktails and are located in buildings that might surprise you. Kila Peeples has shared a few destinations that you should add to your list of places to go After Hours.

First of all, the evening bar, which is located in the Shinola hotel. The official evening bar door is almost hidden in the wall of Parker’s Alley, but once inside you’ll find a cozy and modern underground bar-style bar serving eclectic drinks. For example, you can order the Prima Ballerina, made with champagne, plum powder and black walnut bitters, or the Midnight Carriage, a creamy and sweet ode to Cinderella that comes with a show!

Next, the appliance room at the Foundation Hotel, a building that once housed the headquarters of the Detroit Fire Department. The Appliance Room surrounds you in soft glowing lights, while you relax on the comfortable sofas and chairs. Some of the cocktails you can sample are The Fern, made with Liberator gin from Valentine Vodka, and their old fashioned made with whiskey or bourbon of your choice.

Finally, the name may put you off, but The Albert’s Bad Luck Bar has great drinks and good times. This intimate yet dazzling bar serves traditional cocktails, however, the signature drink menu is something special. The menu includes The Hammer, a smoky drink made with cashew infused rye whiskey, the Rare Earth, made with matcha and paired with wasabi snacks. If you want something extravagant, Mercury Rising comes served with a square of chocolate and a tarot card with a reading.
