Police video released Thursday shows a 32-year-old man Keegan Castle telling officers that he forgot to remove all the guns from his shooting bag because he had packed his bags in a hurry before leaving for Chicago.

Casteel was arrested for weapons offenses after a Gold Coast hotel worker found a rifle with a scope and laser sight “in a very suspicious position” in a room overlooking Ohio Street Beach.

An employee of the W Chicago Lakeshore Hotel, at 644 N. Lake Shore Dr., found a .308 caliber rifle with a high powered scope and laser sight in Casteel’s room on the 12th floor of the hotel. The worker also found a handgun and several ammunition stores.

Casteel’s attorney says he was in Chicago over the weekend of July 4 to propose to his girlfriend.

The man from Ankeny, Iowa, proposed after his release.
