Next multi-million dollar facility no longer has a CEO

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) — The Legends Event Center is underway at Travis Bryan Midtown Park, and there was a sudden change in direction this week. Sports Facilities Companies Inc., the company that operates the center, announced that Wade Breaux will be the center’s general manager on February 7. KBTX contacted Sports Facilities Companies, Inc. for comment, and they said it was a private personnel matter and they were looking for a new general manager.

The company said the event center is a $41 million project. The Legends Event Center is expected to open at the end of this year. According to the City of Bryan, the center will be 122,300 square feet in size and will include a large indoor court/event space that can accommodate up to 16 volleyball courts and 8 basketball courts. The space will also be able to accommodate activities such as gymnastics and wrestling matches, meetings, pickleball tournaments, archery and cheerleading competitions, boxing and football matches, dance competitions and martial arts, online gaming conventions, trade shows, markets, and other special events, depending on the city.

The city dedicated the center in June 2021. On Tuesday, the city passed a resolution for a $29,150,000 certificate of bond to help fund city improvements and projects like the park where the center is located. ‘events.
