Two ski resorts are preparing to open for the season
IRON MOUNTAIN & IRON RIVER, Mich. (WLUC) – As fall temperatures drop, Ski Brule in Iron County and Pine Mountain Ski and Golf Resort in Dickinson County are gearing up for winter. Both resorts are delighted to reopen, but this year is special for Ski Brule.
“With all the COVID restrictions and regulations and the unknowns, we made the financial decision not to snow last year. As you know, snowfall was almost absent last year, we did so never been able to open, ”said Jessica Polich, Ski Brule operations manager.
Ski Brule says if they had opened last year it would have put a strain on the resort financially. Polich says they want to be here for the long haul.
Pine Mountain opened last year, but was unable to serve food and drink for the first two months of the season. The resort is still adapting for this winter.
“We’re always going to have our deck stretched out with more seats and more lights outside for people who still want to be careful. It’s worked really well, so we’ll continue to do what works, ”said Sam Bracket, general manager of Pine Mountain Ski and Golf Resort.
Pine Mountain added a laundry room to the lodge and made the necessary routine repairs. Ski Brule has added a new bar in the lounge and improved the roof of all facilities. Excitement is brewing for both resorts.
“Everyone who is working towards our goal of opening on November 19, we are so excited,” Polich said. “We’ve spent a year waiting to get back on the snow, and we can’t wait to get started. “
Reservations are already filling up for resort rooms during the winter.
“In fact, Christmas week we are already full. From Christmas to New Years, ”Bracket said.
You can reserve accommodations by visiting the Pine Mountain or Ski Brule website, or by calling the office numbers.
